Do you want to become a Birth Doula in Sweden?

Since 2012 FörlossningsGruppen has trained new Doulas here in Gothenburg that are now working in different parts around Sweden, but also in other parts of the world.

We are now delighted to announce that from 2023 we also offer a Birth Doula course completely taught in English for those who do not have Swedish as their first language. Unique to this course is that it not only gives you all the knowledge and tools to start working as a Doula, but it also prepares you specifically for working with births within the Swedish care system.

The course follows the same course plan and is, like our popular Doula Training in Swedish, fully approved by ODIS (the Organization for Doulas in Sweden). ODIS is the only organization in Sweden that quality assures Doula education and Doulas, making sure their approved courses are of a high standard and can compare to international standard Doula courses worldwide. Training as a Doula with us prepares you to start working as a Birth Doula directly after completion of the course and getting your Diploma and gives you the opportunity to become a member of ODIS with a profile to market yourself from the start. You can also apply for a further certification by ODIS after your first three assignments.

With us at FörlossningsGruppen you get a top quality education. Welcome!

Do you want to work with supporting parents-to-be during the unique life phase where new life begins? Do you have a big interest in pregnancy, labour, birth, and the postpartum period, or perhaps love working with people, supporting and helping others? Being a Doula is an incredibly rewarding and exciting profession, and more and more families in Sweden choose to hire a doula for their upcoming birth.

On our course you will learn how to work professionally with giving support and information to parents-to-be during pregnancy, labour and birth, and the first time with the new baby, as well as how you best get started with your Doula work. You will be able to start taking assignments directly after receiving your Diploma once you’ve completed the course. No prior knowledge is required.

The course provides you with the tools you need to support your clients in the best possible way, both mentally and physically, and apart from your experienced course leader, there will be guest tutors visiting the course, among them a midwife. FörlossningsGruppen has to date trained over 260 doulas.

FörlossningsGruppen’s Birth Doula Training in English is held as a small group in our Eriksberg studio in Göteborg/Gothenburg with easy access from the City Center as well as from the outer areas of Göteborg.

You will get knowledge of the most commonly used methods for pain relief and comfort measures, so that you will feel well prepared to meet the varying needs and wishes of your clients. Then, with our guidance, if you wish you can specialize further in the methods and techniques that you are most drawn to and will have continuing support and mentoring available as you start out on your Birth Doula journey.
